Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Alvin Britt
Rev. Dr. Alvin A. Britt was born in St. George, South Carolina, in August 1959, to Arrie and Clara D. Britt of the Texas Community. He attended Williams Memorial School and graduated from Saint George High School before pursuing higher education at Wilberforce University in Ohio. In February 1983, Alvin joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served until his retirement. Coming from a long line of military service, with roots dating back to World War I, Alvin has always valued service and dedication.
In 1993, while stationed in the Navy, Alvin met and married his wife, Karen V. Marshall. Together, they have been blessed with two sons, Arric and Dyrell, and their family has grown to include 11 grandchildren.
Though initially content in his role as a church leader, Alvin felt a call from God to take his service further. In 2006, he was ordained as a Deacon at St. Simon Baptist Church in Orange Park, Florida, where he also taught Sunday School and served at the Lord’s Table. However, the Lord had greater plans, calling him to preach the Gospel. Alvin was licensed to preach at St. Simon Baptist Church, where he also served as Vice Moderator.
In August 2014, Alvin was ordained and installed as the Pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church in Fleming Island, Florida. That same year, he stepped into the role of Moderator after the previous Moderator moved to Moderator Emeritus due to health reasons, a position he held until March 2025.
Now, Dr. Britt is honored to return to his roots in Texas Community and serve as the Pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He is excited to lead the congregation in faith and service to God.
